News Justified days of absences due to the passing of a family member 14/01/2022

It was published in Diário da República (Journal of the Republic), the Law no. 1/2022, January 3, that changes the Labour Code, namely increasing the number of days an employee may be absent from work due to the passing of a family member.

From now on, workers can justifiably be absent from work for 20 consecutive days due to the passing of an employee’s children, stepchildren, godsons (on civil custody relationships) and son and daughters-in-law and up to 5 consecutive days due to the death of a spouse (as long as in the not separated from persons and property regime), of a relative or of a 1st degree ascending affine.
