In view of the spread of disease by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Portuguese Government decided to adopt a set of measures in order to reduce the social and economic impacts that may occur due to vicissitudes in the functioning of employers, in order to maintain, both as possible, the continuity and operability of service provision.

Through Order No. 3103-A / 2020, of 2 March and Order no. 2875-A / 2020, of 3 March, the Government:

• Orders (public) employers to draw up a contingency plan in line with the guidelines issued by the Directorate-General for Health, within the scope of the prevention and control of Coronavirus infection (COVID-19);

• Adopts measures to safeguard the social protection of beneficiaries who are temporarily prevented from exercising their professional activity by order of the health authority, due to the danger of contagion by COVID-19 (both in the public and private sectors).
