News News Flash - Diploma on the STAYAWAY COVID app 01/09/2020

On August 11, Decree-Law No. 52/2020 was published, establishing the data controller, and regulating the doctor's intervention in the STAYAWAY COVID system.

STAYAWAY COVID is an app for personal mobile devices, with “iOS” or “Android” operating system, which uses “Bluetooth Low Energy” technology as a proximity sensor and notifies users of individual exposure to contagion factors by SARS-CoV -2, due to contact with the user of the application that will later be confirmed with COVID-19.

In the current epidemiological context and based on the opinions of the World Health Organization and the recommendations of the European Commission, the creation of this application in Portugal is based on the recognition of the relevance of using a digital system for the identification and monitoring of contacts between citizens, as a means complementary to the national strategy to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming at interrupting the virus transmission chains. The processing of data for the operation of the application is, therefore, exceptional and transient, remaining only as long as the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 justifies it.
