News News Flash - Use of portable surveillance systems for Forest Fire Detection and Verification 19/07/2021

Through Decree-Law No. 7055/2021, of 16th July, it was established the authorization to use surveillance cameras, installed in unmanned aircraft systems, for forest fire detection and protection.

Before this order, the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD) issued the Decision 2021/77, as a result of the request presented by the General Commander of the Guarda Nacional Republicana, to capture images in the forest areas of councils and parishes considered as priorities, given their fragility and forest density and where conditions are created for lack of vigilance and impossibility of ensuring proper protection against the risk of ignitions.
